Dr. K. Nilakantan

“Manage constant and rapid change, manage the chaos that we see all over the globe, and still keep things going smoothly and ensure growth!”

Q. How do you see the future of business/economy in India? In the world?

India is now poised for spectacular growth, which will throw up considerable opportunities for the younger generation in the near future.

Q. What all challenges you see for the future managers and business leaders?

Manage constant and rapid change, manage the chaos that we see all over the globe, and still keep things going smoothly and ensure growth.

Q.Tell us about books that have been inspiring and you will recommend as a must read.

Don’t really get too much time for serious reading now, and read more for the pleasure of reading, and mostly fiction at that. I am a great lover of Alistair Maclean and all writers of his genre, including Ian Fleming.

Q. Tell us about things you love about being a faculty in IMT-N.

Being able to do research, and teach advanced level courses keeps me going.

Q. What differentiate between a good and a great student?

A good student is attentive, works hard and is regular in attendance and work. A great student is one who is excited by what he is learning. And in most cases a teacher can actually see the thrill and excitement on the pupil’s face, and that is what makes a teacher’s day!

Dr. K. Nilakanthan has done his Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from I.I.T Madras, PhD from I.I.Sc.-Bangalore and M.S. from University of South Florida. Before he joined IMT-Nagpur in the area of Operation Management, Dr. Nilkanthan was the Associate Dean of Research, N.I.T.I.E. – Mumbai. He loves reading and listening to music in his free time.
